i think the problem was, that these swords´ lasers wwere completely animated, in ep. 1-3 they used swords with plasticblades and animated the light, so that they could "really" fight... watch the video again, the old actors have no feeling for the swords.

It's obvious this fight scene isn't as energetic and spectaculair as in ep 3, cause Obi is an old man who hasn't fought for years, and Anakin is in a cyborg suit in wich it is probably hard to move fast!

i agree, that was a hell of a fight scene. with all the flips and everything. maul was the only sith who used a double light saber

i dont know why people say the story is set 19 years when it is really 32 years. and yes this fight scene is corny. the light sabers look dull. there fight scene in part 3 was way better than this

It's true the movie was made 30 years ago, but the thing about the fight scene was that you have to understand that the point of the battle is not about performing amazing acrobatics and putting on a good show for the audience, it's about killing each other. Light sabers burn through you instantly, so all you need to accomplish is contact. That doesn't require acrobatics. As far as the disappearing thing is concerned, well, that wouldv'e required too much money to make that scene look realistic.

i can't believe people are saying that this movie hasn't aged well. I really believe that the older sets, and that aged look on the film gives the first Star Wars trilogy that unique 70s/80s sci-fi feel that new movies don't have anymore. You cannot beat the drama of these older duels, the older, chunkier special effects made the movies seem theatrical adding to the whole idea of a space myth/odyssey/soap that the newer movies try to emulate but become incongruous with newer Sfx & cooler duels.
