haha. still not getting it. good luck on your research bud. keep watching those scenes.

Chief,
I don't have to watch the scene again--I've probably watched it more than anyone here (I've been researching the show for a blog). I'm well aware of the POV pattern. What the Tony-dies people don't get is that it doesn't change the fact that the blackscreen cannot be his POV--if it were, we would have seen what he was looking at just before the cut to black. That's how it would have been done.

I like it because this is what Tony's life is like...I felt more than any point in the series you actually felt the anticipation of something happening...this is what Tony has chosen...everytime he is looking up he is evaluating the threat...I don't think he dies or gets shot..think chase wanted to visually represent the pressure that tony is always under...I looked at the clock the whole time knowing it was about to end

DC77, watch the scene. it alternates between the camera on tony and then it cuts to his view as someone enters each time the bell rings. the very last view isn't on tony, its his POV which is black. david chase actually wanted to make the cut to black last 30 s.

ha i like it! first time i seen this. makes sense to me, that's what would happen to you if you got your brains blown out. life and then nothing. Also leaves room to allow people to end it the way they want to end it as well. It's an open ended ending and yet its not, and its not cheesey, quite clever.
DetectiveCrockett77 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
The blackscreen cannot logically be Tony's POV, because the cut to black happens as the camera is on him. Hence, the whole "Tony sees nothing because he's dead" argument is illogical.
talkingofarabia (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
haha you're not getting it. he looks up and it cuts to black because he doesn't see anything because he's DEAD. the music also cuts. he doesn't have to look at the bathroom to get shot from it. but i guess only an idiot would make it THAT obvious.
taekneek (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I doubt this. They wont make it so obvious. They just wanted viewers to think that it was the man in the bathroom. But only an idiot would make it that obvious. Besides, you see at the end when the girl entered the diner? Tony looked at the HER, NOT AT THE BATHROOM. Logically, she was probably the one in Tony's mind. Also, just because a screen is black it means death. They just wanted to cut the ending short to make us think. They could have made it a white screen or purple or red, or orange

i don't understand why you don't see the concept tony is there in a place he loves as a family and there are peeps in there who could or want to kill him that was the way he lived never knowing when it would happen and it never did simple yet brilliant

To be honest i hated this fucking ending because there was nothing explained when we have watched the fuckin thing for soo many years then the end comes and we DONT GET TO FUCKIN KNOW WHAT HAPPENED...its bullshit. |
