gee, abbey. read any american history lately? we were born of revolutionary war (w/no constitution to insure 'freedoms' yet) cuz we didn't wanna be told what to do by an external authority. the bloodiest war in our history was a civil war when 'debate' couldn't solve the dispute. 'workers' in the south were property that only counted for 3/5 of a person. which doesn't sound like 'freedom' either. so get off your high horse, lil lady.

VN employed communism in as the means to gain its independence. This was nothing related to other nations, nor the threat to the world peace. Vietnamese love peace and freedom however Vietnamese history is scarred by many wars.We never expect to be in the war but because of the critical location, its somehow a curse.

In my last comment, I didnt intend to embrace communism as the best ideology, nor compare it to capitalism.IMO,nationalism and country identity are more important. Judging on ideology a country follow can only be done after a country is truly a country itself.

Its personal preference to like or dislike a ideology. Capitalism also had to demolish monarchy and aristocracy to throne the crown. It also had to go thru the bloody period when people had to work like hell to earn mere wage in order to survive. The freedom of one is the trade-off of the freedom of others. Thats the world we are living. The US gov is functioning like that. To the freedom of the US (cheap oil, abundant natural resources), they deprive the freedom of other countries.

Hi abbeymaeliam1,IMO,communism can only b achieved when a society has accumulated certain level of wealth.None of the socalled communist countries have ever developed to this level.

Also, "Theoretically", Marx's Communist Manifesto preaches "power through violent uprising" and the utter and total destruction of any class besides the workers. This sounds nothing like freedom to me. Can you name one communist state in the last 8 decades that would have allowed us to even have this debate.

Hi zen, Before you start using Vietnam as some sort of model of success for communism, I think it's important for you to understand what happened after the communists got total power in Vietnam. Maybe you should do some research on the fate of the Viet-Cong, the fate of the mountain people, the number of people murdered and tortured, the 10 year famine that resulted from communist planning policies. |
